My name's is Louis Malvessi, and i play the drums for the complete stone roses.
I’m 23, one of the youngest in the band. At least until John begins.
What brought me to music, was.. well that i liked it really ha-ha, i had a friend who had a band , well we had the idea for a band , but no instruments, so we had all these titles for songs and stuff but we couldn’t play any instruments. And i was about 12 .. that was my first band. I just really learned how to play, i stayed with the band for about 2 – 3 years . Since then i have always been in different bands, i was always involved in music, trying to bring my level up always.
Coming from Brazil, i didn’t really know who the stone roses were, they didn’t have a large fan base at the time, they had some fans but not many, i was born in a different time, i am a son of the 90’s, son of nirvana and bands of that time, but now i would say i am a big fan, i appreciate there taste, they’re playing. They were never about anything but the music, i liked that about them.
I like 70;s and 80’s ... I’m a big fan of rush, the Canadian band , they are one of my favourite bands. I like Brazilian music as well. To be honest i am more into classic music , older stuff than new age music , i like kings of Leon and bands like that , i think they are fucking brilliant , but when I’m in my house , or I buy a CD I always end up buying something that is somehow disconnected from everything else that’s going on , on the radio or t.v. I don’t know why. I have a tendency to be an alternative person .
We are all different in the band , myself i don’t like much drinking or partying , i like it when im in the mood , so i am quite of a quiet guy most of the time , but it doesn’t bother me. Im sort of different than the other guys , but it doesn’t effect us , at the end of the day we got on stage and play toghther with no differences , we completment each other on stage
Marky ramone , the drummer from the ramones , he was my first idol and is still sumone who means alot to me .. ever since i started playing drums I have had had hard times .. to be a professional musician is not easy , and to see sumone achieve it inspires you. I would say my first idols are still my idols today. Rush drummer Neil Peart, marky ramone, they are still my idols.
I would love to play drums for bad religion, i love them, they are one of my favourite bands.
I just want more of what we have at the moment , i would love bigger gigs , playing with bigger Pa’s things like that. I love what im doing i am just looking for more of the same. I am happy where i am.
Every gig that i feel in the mood for, where i play well, is a dream gig for me. On my list of priorities in life , at the top is playing our gigs well , when i play well i feel like i have accomplished my goals. I could have 3 dream gigs in a week ha-ha. When the crowd respond to the music , it is the best feeling ever. I have never experienced anything like that in my life.
Im happy where i am right now , i think we are reaching more and more things as a band , so hopfully in a few years i will still be doing this , but in a better way. Just being happy while i play means alot to me.
It might sound cheesy but just joining the band. When i joined the band i felt like it was a gift. It was great. Then playing on big stages for big crowds is amazing , its pricless. I rwalise i am one of a few who had the chance to realise there dream.
